The Town of Stonington is situated in the southeastern corner of Connecticut, bordering Westerly, Rhode Island to the east; Long Island Sound to the south; Groton, Ledyard, and North Stonington to the west and north. The only town in Connecticut facing the Atlantic Ocean, Stonington was settled in 1649. Stonington boasts a thriving seaside community within two hours or less of Boston, Providence, New Haven, Hartford, and New York City.
