Woodstock Academy, founded in 1801, is a non-selective, independent secondary school serving as a public high school for children from Woodstock, Eastford, Union, Pomfret, Canterbury and Brooklyn. A 35-member Board of Trustees governs the academy, which has a variety of extra-curricular activities and interest groups.

Woodstock takes pride in its effort to maintain the community’s rural character. One of Woodstock''s greatest attractions is the annual Woodstock Fair every Labor Day weekend. It is the second oldest fair in New England, and it offers fun for all ages.
